Lucky DeBellevue

Using so called 'Chenille stems' Lucky DeBellevue (USA) creates colourful, non figurative sculptures. They can be experienced as biological metaphors, like immense spider webs or rushing waterfalls, but also be described as three dimensional abstract paintings. By their playful forms and the sensual textures the sculptures live a life of their own. With his unconventional choice of material, the connection to women handicraft and the notion of busywork, DeBellevue challenge a classic sculpture tradition.

Lucky DeBellevue is exhibiting frequently since the end of the 80's. Previous solo exhibitions include Whitney Museum at Philip Morris, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Feature Inc, New York and Stephen Friedman Gallery, London.
